Monticiello

Huacaya Herdsire (Male) Light Fawn

AOA# 1232134 DOB: 6/15/200517 yrs
Full Peruvian, Accoyo Felix son with excellent conformation. His fiber is great and has a wonderful staple length. At 6 years his micron was 22.6. Monti's first male cria on our ranch won Reserve Color at the 2010 HLSR. He gave us another boy last month and another cria is due at the end of February 2012. Monti is passing on his exceptional conformation, fine fleece and definitely has a black gene as he is passing color when paired with light and dark dams.

If you are looking for show winners, then this is your girl. Cotton Candy is one great production female. She has produced three outstanding crias, all of which have won championships. Two of her crias have been dark, one is bay black with a white face, and the other is true black(see Black Jack on our website). Her third cria is a white and grey pinto. With lots of color in her own genetics, Cotton Candy will probably continue to produce colored crias. She has a true black sire and a mediu ...

This boy has had a jumbled past. He made a dashing start, winning ribbons in halter and fleece, and was destined to be a herdsire. But his owners retired, and he moved on. His next owners planned on using him as a Jr. Herdsire, but a customer building a fiber herd just had to have him, so he moved again. Jump forward many years, the fiber herd was being dispersed, and I was able to get him. Not in his prime anymore, but still so dense! He has white guard hairs poking out, but those can easily be removed by a dehairing machine. And still decent crimp for a boy his age. Will be getting fiber samples tested this spring.

I wanted him, as his sire is Monticiello, a great Felix son I had purchased, but lost in a dog attack before I could get any cria from him. So now I have one! And this boy also has lots of grey in his bloodlines too! His mom, a Lanark's Matrix daughter, also produced a grey pinto, so lots of possibilities. His mom's maternal grandsire is Silver Bullet II, who from what I can tell, was an early Chilean import. Many of the early greys and blacks came out of Chile, not Peru.

Remarkable lived most of his life with only boys around. Now that he's around females, he has decided he has to challenge all the other males and turned into a bully. I had to separate him. I don't know if he will calm down if only around males. He hasn't proven himself as a breeder either, so gelding him will be a possible option.
